Overall strategy[edit | edit source]

Unlike common Axemen recruited from the Barracks, Greataxe Infantry are a genus of heavy axe infantry, meant to function primarily as assault troops - they move more slowly but have better armour and count somewhat as "proto-polearms" owing to their ability to inflict splash damage around them. Although vulnerable alone, they can if left unchecked demolish scores and scores of other infantry units, if they get to close in on them.

All told, your best bet is to go after them with Composite Bowmen or crossbow-type weapons. In addition, they are also slow on foot and have weak armour, making them highly vulnerable to cavalry. If you see them isolated, send in lancers to engage them, else use a missile unit such as a Light Chariot or an archer-type unit to take them out. As such, like most other units in Warbirth these units

Unit summary[edit | edit source]

  • Halberdiers - unlike other Heavy Axemen, these units are lightly armoured, have no attack bonuses against enemy structures or siege weapons, but move very quickly and have faster rate of attack. Used by Euskaldunak and Zhou.
  • Phrygian Heavy Axemen - deals added damage versus buildings, but less against siege weapons.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Forgot how these guys are designed but as of 2022 they are needed for Kushans - Indo-Aryan version required.

They are also being added to 2 other factions - Au Lac, Zhangzhung (both Asian). Bet to bring in the Chinese version and see what happens, next.

Axemen are recorded as having 0.55 DPI. But if we use 44 ticks (the one used by BHG for Musketeers) as the recharge rate of this unit then we will surely get an attack damage rating of 25. Should keep it at 26 (so that the Macstrna then can have an attack of 28 - 1 DAM lower than Teceitos in KC1).

We need.....

  • MAcstrna animations, calibrated for 89 frames.
  • A new idle animation for the Macstrna.
