The early CtW kicks off with the dawn of Horemheb's rule as pharaoh over Egypt. As a result, Egypt is poor in tribute, but has 4 bonus cards reflecting the challenges Horemheb faced.

Because of the damage Akhenaten caused to Egypt, her fortification levels are low and she has almost no allies except the Greeks, while her fortification levels are horrifically low. However, since Egypt controls her home region, she is allowed to have a 2nd army on standby, so her military standing is far from hopeless.

The first thing that would best be done would be to reinforce South Canaan in order to deter the Hittites. This can be done if the Egyptians can increase the size of their territories from 5 to 8 by the beginning of the 3rd turn, bumping up the territorial strength of ta-Mefkat and South Canaan by 3 levels each. The best target for this would be Libya, since Libya itself is fairly empty, and the Libyan territory of Zeugitana hosts a Treachery card — which will be ideal for use defensively should the Hittites or their neighbours become too powerful.
