Overall strategy[edit | edit source]
Peasant Hovels are a good source of "spear fodder" units, provided you actually think such units are good at all. Most of the time, however, these units are too weak and difficult to use, but generally they are very cheap so they can be used to defend against rushes, or by opening the way for one. Peasant Hovels, however, must be constructed near cities, so building too many of these buildings can have a knock-on effect on your early game setup when even the amount of space available to you can tell the difference between victory and defeat.
Notes[edit | edit source]
While Peasant Hovels can be built early on with no requirements attached, in Rise of the Ancients it is not so - you must first advance one age before you are allowed to build one.
