In the beginning of Rising Tide, the major power of the region is the Shang, who control three territories — Yin, Chu and Bohai — while the other three factions present in Eastern Asia — Choson, Zhou, and Bach Viet — control single territories.
Yet by the time of Blood and Iron, Zhou control both Song and Qishan, while Chu (Shang's replacement) is in control of Chu, Shu-Ba and Huaiyi, while Bach Viet control Panyu, Min and Nanyue.
This region of the map spanning three "continents" also includes two Supply Centres, as well as four Iron Ore-producing regions. As a result, it is a highly strategic region for the Blood and Iron campaign, especially with regards to any faction pursuing an economic victory by forming an Iron Ore monopoly.

Notes
"Northern Asia consists mostly of vast and sparse wastes. Settlements are few and rare, but the peoples who live here are relentless shepherds and fierce warriors."
The Northern Asia region consists of five territories. While they are poor in Tribute and have no Supply, they do have some interesting resources, particularly Iron Ore in Bao — the present day Tarim region.
Factions
The main barbarian tribes of Northern Asia are the Di people who resemble the Germans.
In Rising Tide, the Iranians control both Serindia and Dahyu Saka, their capital. This makes them potentially dangerous especially to the Chinese factions, since they are not very far and can easily ride in through Sahun or Bao to menace Chinese lands.

Notes
"The lands of Guanwai are not known to be heavily cultivated, but they are still rich with resources to exploit."
Guanwai, meaning "East of the (Shanhai) Pass", meaning "lands east of China", covers four regions — Guandong, the lands directly east of the pass, as well as the three Korean lands — the Taebaek Highlands in the north, the Yellow Sea coast, as well as the Taedong Plains. These lands, sparsely settled on account of the extreme cold and/or harsh terrain, are nonetheless important as they are the home of the Choson civ. In the Iron Age, the Iron Ore deposites of Taedong become more important, as they allow for cheap access to Metal and are a prerequisite to winning that campaign by way of economic dominance.
Factions
Taebaek Highlands is the base of Choson in both campaigns.

Notes
"The lands of China are vast, and her peoples numerous, but are fast falling under the sway of this or that culture. In recent centuries the Hua people of the north developed a hegemony over the Yellow River Basin under the aid of the Xia and Shang kingdoms, while the southern bank of the Great River have since fallen under the sway of Man tribes."
China is notable in Warbirth for being the only region with two Iron Ore deposits. For this reason, it is a highly valuable region that needs to be explored and colonised in order to win an economic victory.
Factions
For China, the main barbarian groups in operation are the Man, who use the same build sets as Choson and Vietnam.
- Shang's capital is Yin in Rising Tide, while Zhou's is due west in Qishan.
- Shang is replaced by Chu in Blood and Iron (and Yin is renamed as Song), whose capital is based in Chu — separated from Qishan by the territories of Song, Shu and Ba.
