Overall strategy[edit | edit source]
Unlike other cavalry archers which rely heavily on saturating the enemy with sheer volume of fire, the Hunnic Okchular relies more on precision and concentration of fire to whittle down their foes. As a result, Okchular have a slower-firing but more devastating ranged attack, which makes them highly proficient at countering the ranged cavalry units of other nations, in addition to their main duties as a hunter-killer unit against slower enemies, especially war elephants and Peons.
Still, they have almost little in the way of armour, and as such, Okchular are vulnerable to any player who comes well-prepared for a horse bow rush. It goes without saying that heavy melee cavalry is required as an escort, especially against enemy ranged infantry, which can often be raised in far greater numbers compared to Okchular. If you are facing the Xiongnü, do take this to heart too: always have ranged infantry, preferably siege weapons such as Scorpions, archer infantry, as well as heavy cavalry of your own to help fend off attacks by Okchular.
Notes[edit | edit source]
Uses Turkish Archer skin from Project 666.
But if so, what do the following units use?
- Awchlar - vanilla RoN nomad skin.
- Okhchular - Turkish Archer skin?
- Baxjitai: Khazar Yabgu, + a new model ?????????
