Persia/Strategic Overview

From Warbirth Wiki

< Persia

  • Strengths: Very strong cavalry traditions. Has some of the best cav units on hand. Good economic bonuses.
  • Weaknesses: Very weak early game army, highly dependent on mercs. No good siege or naval components.

By far and large, Persia could well be the most powerful faction, especially in the Imperial Era. It has the best cavalry units, and also a vast and variagated infantry and mercenary force worthy of a shanenshah's command. However, this infantry force is seldom strong enough to function as anything more than a support role although it can be said that Persian infantry can be the best, with several key units. Paighan levies, along with Daylamiyan, can often be a strong alternative to more expensive Grivpanvar and Cataphract Elephant corps. Still, Persia's biggest problem is that many of its best units are in the Imperial Age, and in the beginning Persia's army can only be said to be fairly limited in scope save for its mercenary force (it is the most mercenary-dependent of all factions, aside from the Xiongnü).
