Overall strategy[edit | edit source]

The Maryannu is a unique Mitanni light chariot unit which is far more mobile, and also has a better rate of fire, thus making it far more efficient than any other Light Chariot unit in single combat, and providing the Mitanni with a more powerful cavalry skirmishing component that can be used to whittle down enemy melee infantry faster. It, however, in addition to being weak to closeup attacks, is also costlier, so as a result while the Maryannu have a more powerful light chariot, they can train fewer of these units inasmuch as they are as mentioned before more efficient when used in combat.

So as a result, while the Maryannu can be a very awesome unit to have early on in the game, its cost means that the Mitanni player has to be most judicious and prudent in their use, especially given that chariots are rather weak to begin with. Maryannu chariots are thus best used, like all chariots, in tandem with infantry, and should be used chiefly to attack only melee infantry units wherever they are found. Maryannu should be used in keeping with Mitanni gameplay philosophy - which is to strike early, and strike hard, never letting your opponent advance to another age where they can develop better units to counter yours.
