Faction Overview Strategic Overview History
  • Strengths: Good defensive units, modest economic bonuses and defensive capability.
  • Weaknesses: Poor early-game missile infantry and mercenary selection, no siege weapons.
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."The Bible (Psalms 20:7)

If the Egyptians, Hittites and Mitanni are the chariot civilisations, then the Hebrews can best be described as the "anti-chariot" civilisation, and have two units who can function as specialised chariot-killers — their Judaean Slingers, and their Gibborim. Judaean Slingers function as an early anti-armour unit, ideal for punishing light and armoured units from afar alike, while Gibborim replace Swordsmen for the Hebrews, which has a shorter-ranged but powerful anti-armour attack, making the Hebrews the ideal civilisation for punishing other nations that rely on chariots and heavy infantry. The only problem is that the Hebrews have no good cavalry components — Light Chariots and Horsemen are all that you will ever have for the whole game, so if they are facing someone like the Phrygians, Assyrians or Iranians, it is hard to say if they can survive. Lack of cavalry, along with the inability to build Battering Rams means that when it comes to seizing walled cities, the Hebrews do try very hard.
