"1377 CE:

"For decades, fire, steel and corruption have reigned supreme across Europe.

"The old order of God-given things has broken down under - not only is Christ's vicar ignored, he too now is a prisoner of the king of France and a pawn in the great bloody exchanges of this era, even as English armies have infected French soil itself like the Black Death itself. The rest of Europe fares little better, with the Danish Crown busined with the task of putting down increasingly restive Sweden and Norway, and the German-based Hanseatic League attempting to impose its own rule across Denmark, but the rest of Northern Europe and the Baltic too.

"Yet it too is a time of rebirth in the midst of so much chaos and so much destruction. Alchemists seek new cures and drugs to better human living. Craftsmen seek to better pre-existing tools and endeavour to built a new future. And all across Europe, the ever-ubiquitous merchant never ceases to dream of greater profits and new markets, while poet and peasant alike seek new lives, free and unfettered from the drudgery of serfdom and unlimited by the base desires of the nobles.

"For better or worse, Europe is now a war-fuelled crucible of old and new, sacred and profane, weak and strong. Welcome to the world of WARBIRTH."

Features[edit | edit source]

As with previous instalments of Warbirth the main focus is on mercenaries and Wealth generation, and a fairly simple military recruitment system, with Peons continuing to cost Wealth in addition to food for recruitment. The Warrior Hall and Corral are now replaced by two new buildings: the Cantonment and the Armoury, but their functions remain mostly the same.

Cavalry?[edit | edit source]

Most likely it borrows the same system from Project Yesugei but nothing is certain yet.

Mercenaries and slavery[edit | edit source]

With The Crucible, mercenaries take an ever more important role, with an ever larger larger number of mercenaries.

Note, however, too, that there is a new mechanic - slavery. Citizen units - Peons - now have a Wealth cost, but are created much, much faster, so that means that those with Wealth can turbocharge their economies at ease, while others that do not have access to both food and Wealth are at a gross disadvantage.

CtW ideas[edit | edit source]

No CtWs are being planned for this mod but if there are any, they will most likely concentrate on these events:

  • The Hundred Years' War and Welsh rebellion: so this means, that it will be a 1400-1453 scenario covering Wales, Southern England, and Spain as well as France and the Low Countries.

Scenarios[edit | edit source]

Clearly going to be based around wars and battles of the 15th century with the Hundred Years' War being given priority. The likeliest one though is going to be the Italy scenario, included with the vanilla RoN game.
