Zhangzhung

Faction Overview Strategic Overview History

Zhangzhung have the Power of Eminence.

Not all Aryan tribes travelling eastward from Bactria chose to migrate into the Indo-Gangetic plain - for some, the vast mountain passes of the land known as Himavani, the tallest peaks in the workd, have their own appeal, and it is here an Aryan tribe known as the Zhangzhung have made their home. Through this or that method, the ancestors of the Zhangzhung have ingratiated themselves with the locals of the sparsely inhabitated vales of the Himavani, and have created for themselves a home and culture unlike any other, relying mainly on the farming of barley and herding of yaks, supplemented by foraging in the lush forests of the lowlands.

In game, the Zhangzhung - as they are called - combine the equestrian skills of the Aryan tribes with the unique features of the new lands they are settling (as well as the stragglers that they have integrated into their larger tribe). Heavy chariots and rudimentary cavalry are supported by squads of more lightly armed bowmen and fearsome macemen, accompanied by that enfant terrible of south Asia, the elephant. Together, along with the knack of the Zhangzhung to create cheaper cities and larger populations, there must certainly be nothing that can stop their advance to glory.
