Senate

From Warbirth Wiki

In Warbirth, most buildings have either limited LOS, or do not have any LOS at all. Aside from Sentry Posts (which have limited LOS) and Forts and Keeps (which have a low but upgradeable LOS) the Senate has extensive LOS which can be increased with each Culture level researched from the Library. Thus placement of your Senate, in addition to setting your capital, also has strategic implications too: you want to place your Senate down in an area which can't be easily attacked, yet has a location that is central enough to oversee your nation's territory.

Unlike the vanilla version of Rise of Nations and other mods, only 3 patriots may be spawned from the Senate:

  • Green: only one, the Elder.
  • Red: Strongman,

Notes[edit | edit source]

Probably a massive square building, very much like a ..... palace? dunno. But it definitely should be an enclosure of some sort. Perhaps it can be based off the Asian Meeting House of Kings & Conquerors. A porticoed antechamber, with seats at the back.

  • Egyptian - reuse K & C
  • European - ruse K & C. Probably used for Indo-Aryan version too.
  • Akkadian -0 a tall square enclosure with colonnades within, and a whitewashed brick wall without. The Palaace upgrade is reminiscent of the Ishtar Gate.
  • Finished.
    • Chinese. square enclosure, with 2 huts and a gateway. There is a Ding, and a gong.
    • Aegean
Patriot design:[edit | edit source]

Only 2 patriots are available: Green ones, and red ones. There is little to no variation between one or the other.

  • Chinese: Green guy is carried on a sedan chair, but red guy is a king who drives chariots with an umbrella man.
  • Egyptian (ARab and Egyptian and carried over for Alexander):
    • same as K & C / Age of Empires, but the woman charioteer and her Arab escorts are replaced with more authentic units - they wear heavy armour but the driver IS the woman from KC.
    • black slaves carry the woman / priest.
  • Akkadian (includes Hittites)
    • Uses the Egyptian chariot patriot for the green guy but uses vanilla RoN Darius for red patriots.
  • European (Celts, Indians, Iranians, Germans - carried over for Alexnder)
    • Green patriot is probably shared with Greece, but the red guy is a Celtiberian Warlord from KC with 1 Hattic standard bearer and 1 Botroas swordsman.

Three special versions still need creation:

  • Malay - Green1 is 2 women, on an elephant; one of them carries an ankus, the other a Vietnamese flag.
  • Native American (how?) - Green 1 walks on foot, but Red guys ride sedan chairs.

What about Alexander?

Cultures:

  • Germanic / Celtic / Dacian: See above.
  • Black African - possibly a variant of Egypt
  • Akkadian/Persian/Indian - the green dude walks and is Achaemenid in apperance. Escorted by Greek mercs. Note that the general of the Indians drives an elephant like the Nubians.
  • Greek, Mediterranean - Greek popularis with Macedonian bodyguards. But the red guy is the Greek military turant of KC.
  • Egyptian/Arab (again!) - see Warbirth.
  • Kushan/Sarmatian - unknown. Most likely a derivative of Age of Empires Indian factions.

What about captains?

  • For Age of Chariots and Hammurabi, they are usually on foot. Otherwise.....
  • Chariot-borne: Only Egyptian, Arabs drive them.
  • Elephant: Indian, Nubian one is elephant-borne.
  • Horseborne: all other factions.
