Overall Strategy[edit | edit source]
Hanetay (Amharic: "swordsmen") are Guardsmen armed with the vicious shotela, making them highly effective against any and all units armed with short arms, ie daggers, clubs, swords and axes - against which they have a defensive bonus. As this bonus extends toward even cavalry units such as Light Horse and Miao Horsemen Hanetay can be used against a wide number of factions because of their combat bonus, being capable of wreaking havoc on raiding parties spearheaded by sword infantry as well as isolated pockets of melee horsemen. Along with Aethiopian Skirmishers, these warriors can provide the Aksumite faction a versatile infantry unit, ideal for fighting in built up areas, or defending against light melee rushes. The only issue is that these units aren't exactly cheap, consisting of Food, Wealth and Metal like the original Guardsman.
