Overall strategy[edit | edit source]

Kingetoi (or "marchers") are a Celtic upgrade of the Swordsman, becoming in essence a Guardsman that has far greater armour than any other Swordsman unit in the game. They however are considered a class of elite infantry, so they can be recruited solely from a Warrior Hall, and can be considered a super-unit in that they are not only cheap, but very tough, perhaps moreso than any other infantry unit in Warbirth.

History[edit | edit source]

Compared to battle-axes, spears or clubs, swords are highly deadly weapons owing to their versatility and their size, being a convenient sidearm like the revolver of our present day. A good swordsman would have been able to cut off the arms or legs of his enemies with a single stroke and still keep going on in defeating many of his enemies in a short period of time.

Celtic warriors typical of the early La Téne culture were the best within regular troops; They were veterans, highly skilled, and given the best equipment. This last evolved with time; The very first of these, in 600-300BCE would have been wearing no armor, but perhap a Semitic-style, disc-shaped bronze kardiophylax, and a high pointed helmet. They were given also heavy spears and a long sword — over time, most Celtic veteran infantry would be equipped with swords as main weapons as opposed to spears.
