- Strengths: Expansive cultural bonuses, fast-training units make for strong early game rushing
- Weaknesses: Weak late-game army, very metal-dependent. Poor Axial Age gameplay.
When it comes to the Hittites, one thing makes them a cut above their neighbours — and that is ironmongery. It may not seem much, but being able to make high-quality weapons from the most readily available metal sources (in a time when people still only know how to use bronze) can be a great game-changer, especially since Bronze Age units often require prohibitively high amounts of food just to be able to be recruited. Being able to recruit spearmen, axemen and great-axemen at a fairly cheap cost, both resource- and time-wise can be very useful particularly when paired with the Hittites' main weapons of choice, being the awesome Medium Chariot.
Thus Hittite player normally involves creating vast amounts of iron-armed infantry spam, followed by awesome heavy medium chariots to punish lighter chariots.
