India have the Power of Tolerance.

For centuries, the people of the Indus River Valley - the Harappans - have lived in an uneasy alliance with the Aryan tribes dwelling in the harsh mountain plateaus to the northwest, paying them tribute to keep the peace and to settle disputes with the bow and sword. Things have since changed then - a flood has decimated the lands of the Harappans, forcing them to move farther east to higher ground, leaving their once proud cities buried in the marshes created in the wake of that deluge. This moment was not lost on those Aryan tribes of the north, who have been swift to take advantage of their former clients' plight and are migrating into the lands vacated by the Harappans, in search of better pasture for their flocks and studs. Yet the news of these new opportunities and the movement of these tribes farther south and east over the past couple of centuries has not gone unnoticed. Other groups, such as the Iranians, must surely watch these developments with interest, and if they are not dealt with properly, the foundation of this new nation - India - on the Indus Valley plains - will surely be threatened.

In game, the Indians - as they are called - combine the equestrian skills of the Aryan tribes with the unique features of the new lands they are settling (as well as the stragglers that they have integrated into their larger tribe). Heavy chariots and rudimentary cavalry are supported by squads of more lightly armed bowmen and fearsome macemen, accompanied by that enfant terrible of south Asia, the elephant. Together, along with the knack of the Indians to create cheaper cities and larger populations, there must certainly be nothing that can stop their advance to glory.
